Withdrawal Management Services – Addictions Worker

Job Summary: Noojmowin Teg Health Centre is seeking Withdrawal Management Services – Addictions Worker contract position. With direction, the Withdrawal Management Services – Addictions Worker is responsible to provide a comprehensive range of withdrawal management and support services (i.e. assessment, case management, counselling, support, education and follow-up care) to both inpatients and outpatients (including methadone clients) living within the Manitoulin Island District, and to liaise with district/regional health care services facilitating referrals to appropriate addictions and mental health treatment programs.

About: Noojmowin Teg Health Centre is comprised of a multi-team of health care professions providing community-based services through the use of a wholistic approach that integrates both traditional and western healing methods. Our unique team includes: Primary Care and Allied Health Services, Mental Health & Addictions Services, Health Promotion and Traditional Healing and Cultural Services. Services are offered on-site and community based (through the Manitoulin Island District First Nations Health Centres).

Duties: • Complete Screening, Intake, Assessment and Treatment Planning • Complete Crisis Management • Provide Client Orientation and Education • Complete Referrals, Ongoing Care and Case Management • Complete Reporting and Appropriate Charting and Other Record Keeping

Qualifications: • Post-secondary counselling degree or diploma • Three years counselling experience • Knowledge or willingness to learn Anishinabek traditional teachings • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills • Experience with data collection and e-charting • Full Covid Vaccination status • Current CPR, First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) • Valid Class G Driver’s License and own reliable vehicle • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
